Real Soap is a cleansing agent made by combining vegetable oils or animal fat (fatty acids) with sodium or potassium hydroxide (lye) and water.  The chemical reaction is called saponification. 

Real soap formulated for skin care contains the natural glycerin, a humectant, that attracts moisture to the skin.  

Real soap, made correctly,  is moisturizing and gentle to your skin.  Real soap can be used on your face.  Yes, your face too…

Yes.  All real soaps are produced with lye.  If not, then what you have is a detergent created from sodium laurel sulfates or other synthetic surfactants.  During the saponification process, the lye is consumed and the mixture of oils and lye has been converted into soap (75%) + glycerin (25%).

If there was no lye used, there is no soap. And that's the truth.

In roughly 24 - 48 hours the soap mixture heats up (this is called an exothermic reaction), goes thru a gel phase and then solidifies.  At this point we remove the soap from the mold, cut the loaves into bars and allow the soap to completely dry out and neutralize.  We cure Moxxie bar soaps for  a full 4-6 weeks.  During the cure time the water in the bar soap evaporates and the bars harden. The longer the cure, the harder the bar, the longer the bar soap lasts and more gentle the soap is on your skin.

We CRAFT in small batches using minimally processed and responsibly harvested plant-based ingredients.

We COMBINE highly absorbent, vitamin rich plant oils and butters with moisturizing and conditioning properties.

We BLEND pure essential oils– cold pressed or steam distilled plant extracts - which create nuanced, complex aromas that calm the mind, stir the imagination, and encourage a positive feeling of well-being.

We DO NO use sulfates, phthalates, petrochemicals, parabens, propylene glycol, artificial colors, stabilizers, or synthetic fragrances.

We SOURCE from suppliers who commit to fair trade, responsible sourcing practices and do not engage in animal testing.

Moxxie products are not certified as organic though we do use organic ingredients as much as possible.  Our product formulations are made from plant-based oils, butters, clays, and botanicals.

Moxxie products are vegan-friendly. We do not use animal derived ingredients with the exception of bees wax added to our Solid Lotions and Balms.

 

We process orders to ship within 1-3 business days (excluding holidays).  During high volume periods e.g. sales, holidays, processing times may take longer.

We ship orders via United States Postal Service (USPS) Priority Mail, United Parcel Service (UPS) or FedEx from our Placentia, CA location and are typically delivered within 2-5 business days from the time of shipment. At the time of shipment, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with a tracking number and ship date. Due to the nature of our small-batch, handcrafted, products, we cannot accept returns.  If you are unhappy with your product selection, please contact us at hello@moxxiesoap.com and we’ll work to remedy the situation.

We do not ship orders outside of the US at this time.
